Kristin Dowdy is an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance at Campbellsville University.
Kristin received her MFA in Dance from The College at Brockport, State University
of New York and BFA in Dance Performance with a minor in Business from Ball State
University.
Ms. Dowdy is an active member of the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and currently
serves on the SETC Auditions and Musical Theatre and Dance committees. Ms. Dowdy is
also a member of National Dance Educators Organization (NDEO) and served on the board
for New York State Dance Educators Association (NYSDEA), the NY state affiliate, for
three years. Ms. Dowdy has presented her work at multiple conferences including the
annual Southeastern Theatre Conference, NDEO Conference, and the National Collegiate
Honors Conference.
Kristin currently performs with AMBO Dance Theatre, a professional modern dance company
in Louisville, KY. While living in New York City, Kristin was a company member with
Andrew Jannetti and Dancers and Jessica Lewis Arts, two education-based dance companies
in Brooklyn, NY.
Kristin is passionate about sharing her love of movement because she believes anyone
can dance. She especially loves working with theatre artists or those new to movement
because many people are unaware of the catalogue of gestures and actions that they
perform every day. Dance provides individuals with the tools to refine daily movements
into storytelling devices and to expand their movement vocabulary by suggesting and
encouraging new movement possibilities.
