In 2023, Dr. Twyla Hernandez was tasked with beginning the Center for Faith and Ministry to guide Campbellsville University in an updated focus on its Christian heritage and mission.  The Center officially opened in April 2024 and is rapidly growing in its outreach to faith leaders and organizations as well as its in-reach across CU.  Dr. Hernandez is also Professor of Christian Missions, serving in that role since 2011, and she enjoys training students for the global missionary field of the 21st century.  She began her missions career serving in Argentina and has served the Lord in several other countries .  Upon returning to the United States, her ministry has focused on Hispanic church planting and being the President of the Hispanic Baptist Bible Institute.  During her twenty years in that role, she oversaw the theological training of Hispanic leaders here in the United States and in other countries, including seven Bible Institutes in Cuba. She regularly presents papers at academic society meetings and has written chapters in several books, was quoted in Christianity Today regarding her work in Cuba, and published a book, Bridgebuilding between Latino and Anglo Congregations, about how Latino and Anglo churches can work better together and share facilities in a way that uplifts both congregations.
