Howell Environmental Science Scholarship
George & Joan White Howell Environmental Education Scholarship
The George and Joan White Howell Environmental Science Scholarship is a $1,000 environmental science scholarship, administered through the Lake Area Foundation, available to a freshman entering Campbellsville University. Another $1,000 is available annually for a freshman student pursuing an environmental science degree who is willing to help with research at Clay Hill Memorial Forest for a minimum of 70 hours per semester during the academic year.
Requirements to apply:
- Students must select Environmental Science as a Major
- High School GPA 3.5. Maintain CU GPA 3.0;
- ACT Score of 24 or above on the science portion of the exam;
- All students applying shall submit an essay of a minimum 200 words describing interest in the environment and how they hope to utilize their degree to promote Earth Stewardship.
Other eligibility requirements:
- Env. Science student priority but otherwise open to all incoming freshmen regardless of program choice
- Avg. Overall ACT 24 OR 3.5 High School GPA
- Mentor Recommendation Letter (teacher, administrator, mentor, etc.)
- 1-page essay demonstrating applicants passion for the environment, environmental activities, etc.
Requirements for Recipients:
- Recipients must complete a minimum 50-hrs volunteerism at Clay Hill Memorial Forest
- Non-Env. Science recipients must take at least two science classes while at CU
