CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Josh Huisman, senior pastor of New Hope Community Church in Brentwood, Tenn., spoke from Revelation at Campbellsville University's chapel Sept. 15.
“This is a letter from Jesus to believers in the church; to believers in Christ who are hearing these words,” Huisman said.
“In the scripture, the word amen means ‘truly.' It could also mean ‘so be it.' It could mean ‘it is so.' When we hear the word ‘amen,' we use it as something we agree with, right?
“And Jesus says, ‘you need to hear my word, my words of the Amen. You think you know the truth, but let me bring you the truth. The faithful truth. A true witness to the truth.' “These words that Jesus is saying is of course correct, and we here today need to listen to these words because they can apply to us,” Huisman said.
He said, “We can burn them into our hearts. Cause there's times where we need to have a correction on how we do things.”
He read Revelation 3:15-16, “I know your works. You're neither cold nor hot. With it being cold and hot, so because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
Huisman said, “Jesus is saying here that I wish that you were hot and on fire for me or if you're not hot for me, I wish you'd rather be cold.
“Choose a side? Where do you want to be? Just don't be lukewarm.”
Huisman received a Master of Theological Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2013. He and his wife, Sarah, began their time at New Hope in the youth ministry.
They had served teenagers for eight years before Huisman became the senior pastor. He and his wife and children: Tyler, Jordan, Mary Beth and Alyssa live in Nashville.
