CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — After three freshman orientations, Campbellsville University held her fourth and final scheduled LINC recently, although a make-up day will be Monday, Aug. 26. Over 60 students attended, which put the class of 2017 total to 536 so far.

Jodi Allen, dean of student services, said, “LINC orientation ran very smoothly this summer. The success of LINC can be attributed to the collaboration among all areas across campus as well as the excellent team of devoted LINC student workers.”

Crissi Oldham, a senior LINC worker from Munfordville, Ky. said, “My favorite part of working LINC was meeting each new student as I helped make their CU student IDs. CU is special to me, and I enjoyed seeing the new students experience it for the first time. It is a small town atmosphere where everyone is friendly and welcoming and the campus feels like home.”

The purpose of LINC is for students to Learn, Invest, Navigate and Connect. In order for students to have a successful transition into college, they must experience each part of the LINC process, Allen said. The orientation allows students to meet the Office of Student Services staff members, connect with other students, stay the night on campus, make their schedules and prepare for their first week on campus.

Students from all over the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as the country, came to visit their new home away from home. From Louisville, Ky., Drew O'Neil, said, “I wanted to come to Campbellsville because I want to work in vocational ministry, and I saw that CU would offer me many opportunities to learn and gain experience.”

Chesney Lancaster, from Clarksville, Tenn., said, “I felt that CU was the best choice for me. I loved the Christian atmosphere and the small classroom size.”

Lancaster's mother, June Gardner, felt the same way. Gardner said, “I can 100 percent honesty say that God showed us the way to CU. Chesney applied to several colleges, but CU was the first to respond and after visiting other campuses, we felt that God was leading her here.”

After a summer of successful LINC orientations, the student services staff is excited to welcome the new students to campus, Allen said.

“Currently, the Office of Student Services is gearing up for a great start to the fall semester, and we cannot wait to see the faces of our new freshman students on campus this fall,” she said, “We are so thankful and excited that so many students chose CU as the place for Christian higher education.”

The make-up LINC is Aug. 26. To register, contact the Office of Admissions at (270) 789-5220 or email Paula Caldwell at pscaldwell@campbellsville.edu.

Night classes begin Monday, Aug. 26 for the fall semester with day classes beginning Tuesday, Aug. 27.
