CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Nevalyn Price Moore, professor of music emerita at Campbellsville University, will present the university's first Noon Organ Recital of the 2017-18 year on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 12:20 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
Moore will be performing arrangements of well-known hymns plus works by French composers Marcel Dupré and Jean Langlais.
The recital is free and open to the public; it will conclude at 12:50 p.m. in time for those attending to return to work.
Moore will perform on the 1894 Farrand and Votey Organ that was enlarged to 51 ranks by Moeller, Pilcher and Milnar Organ Companies.
Moore taught in the Campbellsville University School of Music for 28 years. She has presented keyboard and handbell workshops, has served as an adjudicator for festivals and competitions, and has served as a church organist in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.
Moore, a native of Ellisville, Miss., has performed and presented lectures at conventions of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Music Teachers National Association, Music Educators National Conference and the American Guild of Organists.
She was selected as the 2002 Kentucky Music Educators Association College/University Teacher of the Year. She was named the 2006 Campbellsville University Distinguished Professor, the highest honor given a tenured faculty member, and was the recipient of the 2002 Campbellsville University Academic Excellence Award given annually to a non-tenured faculty member. She also received the 2007-08 Faculty Servant Leadership Award from the university.
Moore received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Judson College in Alabama and a Master of Music in Organ Performance from the University of Mississippi. In addition, she studied at Florida State University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Westminster Choir College.
Moore and her husband, Dr. Jim Moore, professor of music at Campbellsville University, have five children and eight grandchildren.
