CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Cathy Chinn, Mississippi River Ministry coordinator, will speak at Campbellsville University's chapel at Ransdell Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. Ransdell Chapel is located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave. on the main campus of Campbellsville University. Everyone is invited.
Chinn, a retired, licensed social worker, worked nearly 28 years for the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children in Protection and Permanency.
She and her husband, George, began working with the Mississippi Ministry Jan. 1, 2011 after her retirement. They represent and motivate poverty ministries in eight states that are up and down both sides of the Mississippi River. They mobilize people and associations in church to get them involved with the ministries any way the can.
Chinn was an Acteens leader for over 30 years and led them on mission trips both in and out of the United States. She served four years as the president of Kentucky Woman's Missionary Union and is the WMU director at Living Faith Baptist Church located in Hartford, Ky., as well as the associational WMU director for the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association.
Just before Chinn and her husband retired from their jobs, they began doing mission work. They left their home and served in eastern Kentucky for about two years.
She was provided with opportunities such as being on the evangelical staff at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky.
Chinn has been married for 44 years. She is a mother of two and a grandmother of five.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10).
