Clif Cason, director of music at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church in Lexington, will perform at the Noon Organ Recital Series Tuesday, March 19 at 12:20 p.m. in Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville , Ky.
Cason performed on the series in 2008 and 2010. This year's program will include works by J.S. Bach and Buttstett and a series of spirituals by Robert Powell, Richard Billingham and Carl Haywood.
The recital is free and open to the public and will be finished by 12:50 p.m.
The recital is on the 1894 Farrand and Votey Pipe Organ enlarged and rebuilt by Moller, Pilcher and Milnar Organ Companies. It has three manuals, pedalboard and 51 ranks.
Cason's studies in organ include a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and a master's from the University of Illinois.
Cason was a student of Madame Marie-Claire Alain during the academic year 1979-80. Upon completion of his studies with Madame Alain, he was awarded the Premier Prix from the Conservatoire National de Musique de Rueil-Malmaison. Other teachers include Arnold Blackburn, Richard Dwyer, Jerald Hamilton and Larry Smith.
Cason and his wife Shari were married in 1982 and have three children: Claire, Brad and Holly.
