CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Steven Kniffley, clinical psychologist and expert on race and racial trauma, will lead a lecture on Race and Racial Trauma Thursday, April 28 at 4 p.m. presented by Campbellsville University's Diversity and Community Committee.
The event, which is free of charge and open to the public, will be in the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) Banquet Hall at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
Kniffley is a scholar and public speaker, having given several presentations and seminars on race and racial trauma.
He is Spalding University's chief justice, equity, diversity and inclusion officer. He is a faculty member for the university's School of Professional Psychology and leader of their Collective Care Center, a clinic specializing in providing support for racial trauma. He is a member of Spalding University's senior leadership cabinet promoting diversity and inclusion programs across their campus.
Kniffley is the president-elect of the Kentucky Psychological Association. He was named a 2021 Health Care Hero by Louisville Business first, as well as being recognized as a member of their 40 under 40 list of Outstanding Young Professionals in Louisville. He received the 2020 MediStar Healthcare Advocacy Award from IGE Media and Medical News for his work.
Kniffley received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Louisville, his Master of Arts and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Wright State University.
He participated in a post-doctoral fellowship in child and adolescent acute services with Cambridge Health Alliance and Harvard Medical School.
He has published works such as “The Black Man's Guide to Graduate School,” “Black males and the Criminal Justice System,” “Knowledge of Self: Understanding the Mind of the Black male” and “Out of K.O.S (Knowledge of Self): Black masculinity, psychopathology and treatment.”
