CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Sarah Chacko, online producer for The Wall Street Journal, will be the Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) speaker March 11 at 5 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC), 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
Her presentation is titled “Defense from the Dark Arts: Politics and Social Media.”
The forum is being held as a part of KHIPP, which has been established for purposes of focusing attention on and debate of public policy issues at the regional, state, national and international level.
Chacko works with a team at The Wall Street Journal to curate The Journal's website, social media feeds and news alerts. She joined The Journal in 2017 after a stint reporting on healthcare for The Hill, three years covering policy and the legislative process at Congressional Quarterly, and two years reporting on government contracts for Federal Times.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2004, she started her career as a city hall reporter in a small central Texas town, Killeen. She then moved to the Denton Record-Chronicle, a subsidiary of the Dallas Morning News, where she covered rapidly expanding school districts across several counties. Her last southern job was with the Capitol bureau of The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge, where she won state and national awards for her coverage of Louisiana's poverty issues.
Chacko received her graduate degree from Northwestern University and was chosen for the school's inaugural National Security Journalism Initiative fellowship in Washington, D.C.
