CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University's School of Theology has begun its January Bible Study.
The study, titled “The Character of God,” will explore the Book of Psalms.
According to Dr. John Hurtgen, dean of the School of Theology and professor of theology, the study “consists of selected Psalms and what each tells us about the character of God.”
The study is being held at Good Hope Baptist Church, 8320 Saloma Road, Campbellsville, Ky, from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., each Sunday. Hurtgen leads the study.
“Everyone who loves God's word—or wants to learn more about God's word—is invited to attend!” Hurtgen said. “All you need to bring is a Bible.”
Upcoming sessions for the study are as follows:
Jan. 16: God's Goodness Seen in Justice & Mercy (Psalms 73-83)
Jan. 23: God's Presence Offered to All Who Turn to Him (Psalms 84-88); God's Character & Salvation Call for Our Praise (Psalms 113-118)
Jan. 30: God Offers Hope to His People (Psalms 120-134)
According to Hurtgen, the January Bible Study is an outgrowth of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Campbellsville University's School of Theology began providing the January Bible Study instruction to pastors and to churches in the mid-1980s with the faculty of the Christian Studies Division including Dr. Robert Street, an Old Testament professor from 1976 to 1987; and the late Dr. H.E. “Jim” Coker, a New Testament professor from 1966 to 1990; and Dr. Jerry Kibbons, a religious education and pastoral ministries professor from 1964 to 1992.
