CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The second Noon Organ Recital of the semester at Campbellsville University will be performed by Gabriel Evans, the director of music ministries at Union Church in Berea, on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 12:20 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
He will be playing pieces by Nicholas Bowden, Ralph Vaughn Williams and Leon Boellmann. Along with those pieces he will be playing the famous hymn “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” by Joel Raney.
Evans is a native of Pikeville, Ky., and resides in Richmond. He is also employed as one of the staff accompanists and vocal coaches at Berea College. He accepted the position as assistant choral director and collaborative keyboardist for the Madison Singers Community Choir.
Evans received his Bachelor of Music Performance and Music Education in 2013 from Eastern Kentucky University. He began his postgraduate education in fall 2014 at the University of Kentucky, emphasizing in organ performance and sacred music. He completed his Master's of Music degree in May 2016.
He has served as accompanist, organist, choir director and handbell choir director for various churches and frequently concertizes with piano and organ performances.
Everyone is invited to the free event which ends at 12:50 p.m. in time for people to return to work.
