CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University's Baptist Heritage Lecture Series will feature Dr. Joe Early Jr., associate professor in Campbellsville University's School of Theology and director of the Quality Enhancement Plan, speaking on “Where do Baptists come from?”
The event will take place on Tuesday, March 21 at 6 p.m. in the BASC Banquet Hall at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
The Baptist Heritage Lecture Series' Mission is to promote the study, discussion and research of Baptist historical events, theological distinctives, traditions and leaders that are unique and essential to understanding who Baptists are.
Early has served Campbellsville University for eight years. He is the author of eight books, two manuals, 27 articles and book reviews in peer-reviewed academic journals and has made numerous presentations at professional historical and theological society meetings.
He is a native of Williamsburg, Ky. and earned a B.S. in Political Science from Cumberland College in 1993.
He also went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Church History from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002.
Before teaching at CU, Early taught at the University of the Cumberlands, Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Early's current research for his next book is titled “Women are Still Eve: How Male Christian Theologians have Defined the Role, Nature, and Purpose of Women for Two Thousand Years.”
He is married to Tiffany Jones Early and is the son of Dr. Joseph Early Sr., part-time assistant to the president at Campbellsville University, and his wife, Phyllis.
