CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -Dr. Tony Cunha, dean and professor of music and chair for art and design, will speak at Campbellsville University's chapel service on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, to promote International Education Week arranged by the Center for Global Engagement.
The theme of the chapel address and International Education Week is “Go Global.”
Cunha has been a faculty member at Campbellsville University since 2007. He previously served as a faculty member at the North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary for 14 years.
He received his Bachelor of sacred music degree from the North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. Cunha earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Cunha has served as a guest conductor on several occasions, including for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Baptist Church Music Conference, National Association for Music Education and College Music Society. He is the chair of Community Choirs for the Kentucky ACDA chapter, and the director of the Kentucky Baptist Men's Chorale.
He is married to Raquel Cunha, director of English as a Second Language at Campbellsville University, and they have four children: Emilly, Raphael, Gabriel and Beatrice.
At this time, masks are required for all in-person gatherings on the Campbellsville University campus. The university follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Commonwealth of Kentucky guidelines on best practices.
