CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University will host Dr. Charles “Chuck” Owens, pastor of First Baptist Church, Hinesville, Ga., and an alumnus of CU, at chapel Wednesday, April 15, at 10 a.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.
The public is invited to attend the service. Ransdell Chapel is located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
Owens is a 1991 graduate of Campbellsville University. Owens has served at First Baptist Church since 2002. He was associate pastor of the church from 1998 to 2002.
He served as pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Covington, Ky., from 1991 to 1997. He was pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Summersville, Ky., from 1987 to 1991.
Owens is working on his doctorate in leadership and applied theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.
He graduated with a bachelor of arts in Christian studies and political science from CU in 1991. He received his master of divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1995, and received a doctorate of ministry at SBTS in 2005.
Owens served on the executive board of the Georgia Baptist Convention from 2006 to 2008 and was on the administrative committee of the executive board of GBC in 2008. He was also on the executive committee of the Kentucky Baptist Convention ending in 2001.
He has written Sunday School lessons for The Index of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
Owens and his wife, Amy L. Whitlock Owens, also a 1991 CU graduate, have three children: Rachel, Zachary and Ethan. Mrs. Owens is an attorney.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through of a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
