CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The book of Exodus will be discussed at the January Bible Study Preview at Campbellsville University Thursday, Aug. 7.
Dr. Dwayne Howell, associate professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Campbellsville University, will be the leader of the study. Howell was recently named Distinguished Professor at Campbellsville University.
The session, which will be from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., will be at Campbellsville Baptist Church. It is open to everyone - pastors and lay people as well.
Registration for the annual session begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
The study will be broken into four sessions with music during the breaks. There is no cost for the event; however, registration is desired. Dinner is $10, and while it is payable that day, reservations are needed.
Howell is beginning his 10th year on the faculty of the School of Theology. He is a native of Louisville and is a 1982 graduate of Campbellsville University.
He completed his Ph.D. in Old Testament and Christian preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993. He also has a master of theology in Old Testament and a master of divinity in pastoral care, both from SBTS. He graduated from Suda E. Butler High School in Louisville.
Howell is pastor of the Rolling Fork Baptist Church in Gleanings, Ky., and has pastored other churches in Taylor and Hardin counties in Kentucky.
Howell is involved in professional development, having worked on two grants in Biblical Hebrew, serving as chair of the homiletics and Biblical study section of the Society of Biblical literature and co-writing articles with his wife, Dr. Susan Howell, professor of psychology, at Campbellsville University, in the areas of psychology and Biblical studies.
Howell is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion, National Association of Professors of Hebrew and Academy of Homiletics.
He has published several articles and served as faculty chair in 2007-08 and is chair of the homiletics and Biblical studies section of the Society of Biblical Literature.
Howell and his wife have two children, Katelyn and Patrick. He is the son of Joseph N. and Jeanetta Howell of Bowling Green.
