CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University has been selected to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list for the fifth consecutive year.
“Campbellsville University is once again honored to be named among the nation's military-friendly universities in the nation - in a group of 15 percent of higher education institutions so designated,” John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, said.
The 2014 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the United States that do the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
“We are working hard to improve on our ‘military friendliness' as we welcome students who are preparing to serve our nation in the military via our Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program, in partnership with Western Kentucky University, or in serving the educational needs of our veterans who have ably served our nation in the military,” Chowning said.
One of the priorities of Campbellsville University is to teach her students to live a Christ-centered life and prepare them to be Christian servant leaders. With its caring environment, socially engaged student body and the broad range of academics programs, it is an excellent choice for students with military background, Chowning said.
“CU is seeking to become known as a university that understands the needs and interests of those going into the military and those who have served in the military. This recognition is one further step in that direction,” Chowning said.
Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list include military support on campus, academic accreditation, academic credit for military service and veteran graduation rates. The colleges and universities on this year's list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience.
The 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data driven survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide approved for VA funding.
Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,600 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master's degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
