CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University's Carver School of Social Work and Counseling is sponsoring an HIV and Ethics training Friday, March 13, in the Carver School of Social Work building on Meader Street in Campbellsville.
The training is for state employees who need continuing education units.
The Kentucky chapter of National Association of Social Workers has approved this training for three continuing education units per session, according to Dr. Darlene Eastridge, dean of the Carver School of Social Work and professor of social work.
The morning session, presented by Dr. Japheth Jaoko, assistant professor of social work at Campbellsville University, will be from 9 a.m. to noon EST. It is titled “A Synopsis of HIV AIDS.”
The afternoon session, presented by Dr. Candace Hansford,assistant professor of social work, is from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. EST. It provides three continuing education units and is titled “Maintaining Dual Relationships and Confidentiality.”
Jaoko joined the faculty of the Carver School of Social Work and Counseling as in the fall of 2007.
Hereceived his Ph.D. degree in social workfrom the University of Texas at Arlington. He has conducted research in the area of HIV/AIDS andhas previouslyworked as a trainer for HIV/AIDS counselors.
Jaoko hasexperience in conducting individual and group therapywithHIV/AIDS patients.
Hansford graduated from The Ohio State University with a Ph.D. in social work. She came to CU in 2004 and worked until May 2007 and rejoined CU in fall 2008.
Hansford has provided trainings for NASW and other organizations. In addition to teaching full-time at CU, she also teaches part-time for Western Kentucky University.

The Lake Cumberland Branch NASW Chapter will hold a lunch meeting in the Chowning Executive Dinning Room of the Winters Dinning Center on the campus of Campbellsville University between the morning and afternoon training sessions from noon until 1:30 p.m. EST.
All Lake Cumberland Branch members are invited to attend the luncheon and business meetinghosted by the Carver School.
