CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University's Bass Fishing Team was honored and recognized by Saloma Baptist Church, who has adopted the team, Sunday, Oct. 7.
SBC adopted the fishing team four years ago when the team began. Coach Pete Hedgepath and CU Provost Dr. Donna Hedgepath are active members at SBC. Dr. Carter and Coach Hedgepath were presented with a donation and a potluck meal and fellowship hour followed the worship service.
“Pete Hedgepath is the coach as many of you are aware, and he is doing a great job of seeking to build a team of young men and women to become Christian servant leaders,” said Dr. John Chowning.
Coach Hedgepath proceeded to give a report Sunday morning about the spiritual emphasis, as well as the athletic competitive part of fishing, that is being emphasized for the members of the team. Jason England led a time of special prayer for the team members with the laying on of hands on them, and then presented the church's annual financial sponsorship for the team. Team members have the SBC logo on their uniforms and boats. The Christian fish symbol is also on their uniforms, hats and boats with Philippians 4:13 as their team scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The team left Oct. 9 to participate in a fishing tournament in Arkansas and won't return until Oct.14.
