CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Jacquie Miller, Campbellsville University's School of Music and Art and Design secretary, has received a mini-grant from the Kentucky Historical Society's Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC).
For her project, Miller will be interviewing musicians throughout Kentucky on the effects of COVID-19 on their music programs, employment and lives as musicians.
Miller's research will include interviews with musicians about how COVID-19 affected them. She will travel to different parts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky recording interviews.
“I hope this project sheds light on some of the struggles musicians have had this past year and a half, and hopefully, help us better understand how to adapt if this should ever happen again,” Miller said.
The audio recordings will be used as a historical record of what musicians have done to overcome the hardships of COVID-19. They will be put in the archives of Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) to be studied and used in future research.
The Kentucky Oral History Commission, administered by Kentucky Historical Society, reaches across Kentucky to record and preserve the diverse stories that are a part of Kentucky's history.
KOHC is the only state commission committed to statewide oral history documentation through granting programs and outreach.
Since 1976, KOHC has awarded more than $1 million to more than 600 grants to individuals, colleges, universities and community organizations and established a collection of nearly 10,000 interviews, one of the largest in the United States, at the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, Ky.
