CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Office of University Communications received 14 awards at the December CASE Kentucky Conference in Lexington.
The conference was hosted by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and focused on successful development and communications practices within organizations.
Prior to the conference, participants were given the opportunity to submit examples of work from their organization or office from the prior year to be considered for various awards.
“I am so proud and excited to have won these CASE awards,” Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications, said. “Our team works hard to produce the best quality publications, and we appreciate other offices at the university working with us. We are honored to have won these awards from CASE.”
The Office of University Communications' awards are as follows: A Grand Award in the category of “Specialty Piece” that was created for the 15th Annual Media Appreciation Luncheon;
An Award of Excellence in the category of “Low Budget Publication” that was created for Homecoming 2018; an Award of Excellence in the category of “Annual Report” for the 2018 President's Report; an Award of Excellence in the category of “Magazine or Publication Rendering for Tablet or Mobile Technology” for digitalizing the Campbellsvillian Alumni Magazine;
An Award of Excellence in the category of “Magazine B” for the Campbellsvillian Alumni Magazine with Joan C. McKinney as editor and Amber Meade as assistant editor; an Award of Excellence in the category of “Feature Writing” for the story “From music major to Campbellsville University provost” about Dr. Donna Hedgepath, provost and vice president for academic affairs, written by Ariel C. Emberton, student news writer;
An Award of Merit in the category of “Feature Writing” for the story “With a smile, Oscar Vaughn takes his job seriously and has fun while doing it,” also by Ariel C. Emberton; an Award of Merit in the category of “Cover” for the design of the 2018 President's Report designed by Alexandria D. Swanger:
An Award of Merit in the category of “Tabloid” for the 2019 Life in Taylor County publication, which was produced with the Department of Mass Communication and the Central Kentucky News-Journal;
An Award of Merit in the category of “Special Event” for the materials and concepts used at the 15th Annual Media Appreciation Luncheon;
An Award of Merit in the category of “Photography—Individual” for a photo taken that reenacted the infamous “V-Day Photo” with an August 2018 Aug. graduate student and her significant other who was dressed in military attire; an Award of Merit in the category of “Photography—Individual” for a photo taken during the 2018 CentriKid camps that took place on the campus of Campbellsville University; an Award of Merit in the category of “ Photography Series” for a photo taken of Christian artist KB while he performed in Ransdell Chapel, all photos by Joshua Williams, and an Award of Merit in the category of “Photography Series” for photos taken during the “Once Upon a Mattress” production by Ariel C. Emberton.
“In addition to our annual conference sessions, we are proud to host an awards competition recognizing best practices and outstanding accomplishments in programming, writing, publications, graphic design, digital media and marketing,” Barbara Burns Milosch, president of CASE Kentucky and director of communications at Sayre School, said on the CASE website.
The CASE-KY Mission Statement is as follows: “As a volunteer-driven, member-focused organization, CASE Kentucky strives to promote and support Kentucky schools and colleges by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, communications, marketing, fundraising and other advancement professionals who serve them.
“CASE Kentucky is committed to developing and fostering sound relationships between member educational institutions and their constituencies; to providing professional development opportunities; and promoting diversity within the profession.”
The Office of University Communications team that won the awards was comprised of employees Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications; Joshua Williams, office manager; Amber Meade, communications assistant; and Alexandria D. Swanger, communications assistant.
The office team is now comprised of McKinney; Amber Meade, communications operations manager; Alexandria D. Swanger, communications and project manager; and Ariel C. Emberton, staff writer/photographer.
