CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University School of Music will be featuring the CU Wind Ensemble in concert on Sunday afternoon, April 21at 3 p.m. in the University's Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave. Campbellsville.
The program is called “Joy in the Journey” and is a musical celebration of the journeys of life.
The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Jennifer L. Tinnell, director of bands/instructor
in music.
Tinnell joined the music faculty at Campbellsville University in 2001 and has been
serving as director of bands since 2008. Joining Tinnell on the podium will be Russell
A. Thompson, assistant director of bands.
Thompson joined the School of Music faculty in the fall 2012.
Works to be performed include: “Gavorkna Fanfare” (1991) by Jack Stamp; “Across the Halfpipe” (2008) by Samuel Hazo; “Albanian Dance” (2003) by Shelley Hanson; “They Led My Lord Away” (1984) by Adoniram Gordan; “Joyance” (1977) by Claude T. Smith and “Black Granite” (1996) by James Hosay.
“All of these selections have wide audience appeal which should make for a very joyful and enjoyable program,” according to Tinnell.
The wind ensemble is made up of approximately 45 members who audition to earn a position within the group as a wind instrumentalist or percussionist.
The concert is free and open to the public.
