CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — “Just a Breeze to a Hurricane,” an original contemporary musical production written by Campbellsville University senior composition major Matthew Hodge of Taylorsville, Ky., will be performed at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 19 and at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 20 in The Gheens Recital Hall.
“I'm going to college now!” opens the show and sets the stage for the production that follows the lives of a close-knit group of friends as they journey through college.
With 17 original songs, fully-choreographed dance sequences, and a cast of CU students, faculty and staff, the musical is one for the whole family.
The musical is free and open to the public.
“Just a Breeze to a Hurricane” combines both humor and drama to present an insider's view into the lives of three college students, all with different ideas about what their college experience should be.
Friendship, acceptance, love, pain, betrayal, jealousy, fear and forgiveness combine to create a tale to which people of all ages and backgrounds can relate.
CU seniors, David Rodgers of Hawesville, Ky., and Josh Hensley of Vine Grove, Ky., are stars of the show along with Taylor County High School senior Chanelle Gardner, along with members of the CU faculty and staff, including Jennifer Tinnell, director of the Tiger Marching Band and instructor in music, and Anne Gibbs, secretary in the School of Music and adjunct instructor in music.
Hodge is a 2004 graduate of Bullitt East High School and is the son of Roger and Monica Hodge of Louisville.
