CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Campbellsville University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. David M. McCullough, director of bands, will present its spring concert Monday, April 16 at 8 p.m. at Campbellsville Baptist Church.
“This program will feature some of the greatest works of the wind band repertoire and should offer an exciting concert experience for audience and performers alike,” McCullough said.
McCullough said the program is as follows: “The concert will begin with one of the most recognized works of the 20th century — Aaron Copland's famed Fanfare for the Common Man, followed by perhaps the most highly esteemed band composition of all time, Percy Grainger's masterful collection of English folk songs-Lincolnshire Posy. Next on the program will be Frank Ticheli's jazzy Blue Shades. The final number of the evening will be another masterpiece, the spectacular and scintillating Armenian Dances Part I by Alfred Reed.
“All of these numbers have wide audience appeal which should make for a very enjoyable concert by some of the university's best young talent,” said McCullough.
The Wind Ensemble is the elite performing ensemble of the university bands. Membership is earned through audition or by special invitation of the director.
“The Wind Ensemble's 50 members are arguably the finest wind and percussion instrumentalists from the University campus and surrounding communities,” said McCullough.
The concert will be presented in the Campbellsville Baptist Church sanctuary and is free to the public.
