CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Rev. Bernard Crayton, pastor of Little Flock Baptist Church in Louisville, is the featured speaker for Campbellsville University's Martin Luther King Worship Service Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center.
Also participating is the Gospel Explosion Choir, whose members are from Taylor, Green and Adair counties.
“We invite the community to join us for our annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Worship Service,” said the Rev. John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president.
“This is a time for the Campbellsville University campus community and the local community to join together in remembering the legacy of Dr. King and his pursuit
of civil rights for all people.”
Chowning said King's dream remains alive in 2007 as “we continue to work in that direction.”
“Rev. Bernard Crayton is an excellent preacher, and we will be challenged by his message that evening. Rev. Crayton is a Campbellsville University graduate theology
student at our Louisville Center, current moderator of the Central District Association of Baptists and one of the emerging Baptist leaders in Kentucky.”
He said, “The Gospel Explosion Choir always does an outstanding job in singing praises to God. We look forward to a wonderful evening in which we are challenged to continue the work of Dr. King and the civil rights movement.”
Crayton is moderator of the Central District Baptist Association of Louisville, which is the second largest district in America consisting of 140 Baptist churches.
He is the former pastor of Friendly Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, and is a highly sought after evangelist and revivalist across the country, Chowning said.
Chowning said the Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church has experienced enormous growth under his pastorate and has implemented a variety of ministries that will contribute to evangelistic outreach to the unsaved through fervent prayer, discipleship training and the power of the preached word.
The church is building a Center for Family Life where they will implement ministries that will feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the poor and educate the membership to learn new skills that will prepare them for self-sufficiency through entrepreneurial enterprises and economic strategies.
Crayton has his wife, Marcella Jones Crayton, have two children, Ashley and Justin.
