CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Ted Gentry, organist/choirmaster at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Ky., will give the next Noon Organ Recital on Tuesday, March 17 at 12:20 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel at Campbellsville University.
The 30-minute program consists of works by Bruce Neswick, J. S. Bach, Norberto Guinaldo, John S. Dixon, Léon Boëllmann and Georgi Mushel.
He will play on Campbellsville University's 1894 Farrand and Votey Organ in Ransdell Chapel which is enlarged to 51 ranks by Moeller, Pilcher and Milnar Organ Companies.
Ransdell Chapel is located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky. The recital is free and open to the public and will finish at 12:50 p.m.
Gentry, organist and musicologist, earned graduate degrees in musicology and organ performance from Eastern Michigan University and the University of Kentucky.
Gentry's organ performances have been featured on the nationally syndicated radio program, “Pipe Dreams.”
He has recorded with the Americus label on a joint album with trumpeter Ian Pearson titled “The Festive Trumpet.”
In addition to recitals, Gentry has performed with the Lexington Chamber Orchestra and the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra.
As a musicologist, Gentry's publications include essays on Chopin, Verdi and Rossini for reference books produced by British publisher Fitzroy Dearborn.
Other publications include “Musical Symbols of Death in Tosca” for The Opera Quarterly and “The Origins of Evangelical Pianism” for The Journal of American Music.
