CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Each year, students in Campbellsville University's art department compete in a student juried art show.
The spring 2007 juried art show named several winners, and they are as follows:
Drawing: Lindey Nelson, an art major with minors in Biblical studies and secondary education from Jacksonville, Ala., first place for “God Has a Green Thumb”; Miranda Meeks, an art major and secondary education minor from Princeton, Ky., second place for “The Rose”; and Charles Dunlap, an art major from Campbellsville, Ky., third place for “Tragedy.”
Painting: Seth Hart, an art major and secondary education minor from Monticello, Ky., first place for “Nature Still Life”; Emmeline Womble, an art major from Hopkinsville, Ky., second place for “Once Upon A Dream”; Hart, third place for “Art Supplies Still Life”; and Nelson, honorable mention for “Mary At His Feet.”
Photography: Stephanie Walston, an art education major and secondary education minor from Raywick, Ky., first place for “Hearts and Mountains”; Sarah Sprague, an elementary education major and art minor from Randolph, Vt., second place for “It Really Does Snow in Kentucky” and third place for “Maggie”; and Jazz Page, an art major with minors in psychology and aquatics management from Hardinsburg, Ky., honorable mention for “Quiet Time.”
Ceramics: Donna Quick, an art major and marketing minor from Louisville, Ky., first place for “Blue Bowl”; and Hart, second place for “Texture Teapot.”
Scultpture: Nelson, first place for “Make My Chest a Place”; Hart, second place for “Chuck Norris Sculpture”; and Dunlap, third place for “Another Friday.”
Miscellaneous: Meeks, first place for “Doodles”; Quick, second place for “Dancing Mask”; and Meeks, third place for “Imagine.”
Glasgow artist Davie Reneau judged the competition. Reneau has exhibited at CU many times and is also an adjunct art instructor at CU.
The Art department of Campbellsville University provides visual learners in a Christian liberal arts context with an undergraduate program composed of an art area (48 hours), an art major (36 hours), or an art minor (24 hours).
The art program prepares students for careers in art production, art education, and graduate school for further studies such as studio art, art therapy, arts administration, art history, arts education, museum studies among others.
The art department is composed of two full-time professors, Linda J. Cundiff, professor and chair of the department of art, and Tommy Ray Clark, professor of art, who are assisted by several adjunct professors.
