CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Artist Betsy Burns of Bowling Green, Ky., will show photography in the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery Nov. 24 until Dec. 10. The gallery is located at 205 University Drive in Campbellsville.
Everyone is welcome to come and view her work free of charge.

Burns was first introduced to photography at the age of 13 after receiving her first camera, a 35mm Pentax. Since then she has loved to take pictures.

Coming from a family of creators, collectors and campers, Burns was raised to appreciate the outdoors, which has steered her toward taking nature photographs.

A majority of the photographs in this exhibit represent the nature in her own back yard.

She takes walks with her camera in hand in hopes of discovering some patterns in leaves, unexpected designs on a rock, in the flowers or in the trees.

“I see it as a treasure hunt, searching to find the prizes of a constantly changing landscape. There is always a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered on any particular day, just with a camera and desire to look,” Burns said.

Burns is a Western Kentucky University graduate and spends her time between Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. All three places are considered “home” to her.”

She works as what she would consider her “dream job” as a physical therapist assistant in home healthcare.
Hours for the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery include: Mondays - 9 a.m.-11 a.m.; noon-2 p.m. and 3 p.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays - 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and noon-1 p.m.; Wednesdays - 10 a.m.-11 a.m.; noon-2 p.m. and 4 p.m.-6 p.m.; Thursdays - 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m.; noon-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-3 p.m.; and Fridays - 8 a.m.-11 a.m. and noon-1 p.m.
