CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University will hold another LINC, new student orientation July 12-13, when students will learn about CU, and perform essential items as they become acquainted with CU before starting the semester in August. About 170 incoming freshmen are expected this week. Over 170 were at the last event in June, and that was one of the largest groups ever. The next LINC will be Aug. 2-3.
Families and students spend their orientation touring campus and visiting offices, taking a placement test, receiving their IDs, parking decals, setting up their emails and UPO boxes. Students also received their rooming assignments and planned their schedules and met with their advisors.
Individuals of the CU staff are always excited to welcome new students to the campus; in fact, it is a favorite part of their job, according to Andrew Franklin, director of residence life. “The best part about LINC is having the opportunity to meet new students and their families and find out more about them,” Franklin said.

The LINC workers view their position as more than a summer job because they are a selected few to represent the university. Megan Herrmann Cathers, a junior from Burlington, Ky., said, “I love meeting the new people that will be here next year and engaging with students. Being able to make relationships with them and also other LINC workers has made this a great experience.”
Incoming freshman students see the positives that Campbellsville University offers their students from all aspects. From Lexington, Ky., Ellee English, said, “I like the small campus and classroom size. I had a really good tour when I came to CU, and it helped me make my decision.”

Campbellsville University is not only attracting students from other cities and countries, but also appeals to its local community. Hannah Sadler, from Campbellsville, Ky., said, “I am looking forward to experiencing the family atmosphere that CU offers that larger universities cannot. I am also excited about the opportunities that I can be a part of with my major in broadcasting.”
Jordan Cundiff, from Campbellsville, Ky., said, “LINC really gave me an opportunity to experience campus life firsthand. And I am looking forward to the new friends and memories I'll make while I'm here.”
To encourage students to enjoy their college experience, faculty discuss the positives that CU offers its students. Franklin said, “Our university offers more one-on-one personable relationships with students and staff, faculty and advisors. At CU, students are more than a number; they are a person that matters.”
Dean of student services Jodi Allen said to the incoming freshmen, “You've chosen a great place to invest in your future and everyone here at Campbellsville has a desire to help you succeed.”
