CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - “I love old cars, trucks and motorcycles. They do, I believe, remind us of the past and that's part of what Homecoming does,” Stan McKinney, lead professor of mass communication and associate professor of journalism, said about hosting the car show.
“I have no idea how popular a virtual show might be. But I think offering such an opportunity was certainly better than no show,” McKinney said about the show going virtual this year.
Initially the show was to be canceled, but after discovering many car shows all across the country were going virtual, McKinney said he thought it was worth trying.
This year marks 28 years of the Homecoming Car Show, which originally started as a way to have vehicles on campus alumni would recognize and remember from their time at Campbellsville University, McKinney said.
“I hope that younger people, students included, will develop a love for older vehicles and help preserve them,” McKinney said.
Vehicles may be entered in the categories of students, employees, alumni and public.
To enter in the car show, submit a three-quarter view photo showing the front and side of your vehicle on the Campbellsville University Facebook page, along with a filled-out information form to www.campbellsville.edu/virtual-car-show/ by Monday, Oct. 19, at noon. Entry is free of charge.
Voting will be held online throughout the week leading up to Homecoming with a prize for the best in each category as well as an overall winner. Everyone who accesses the car show link will be eligible to vote.
Winners will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. Plaques will be awarded to winners via mail or through pick-up.
