Campbellsville University 1975 alumna Billie Sue Kibbons will be Campbellsville University's featured artist in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive.
The exhibit began Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 26. Everyone is invited to the exhibit and especially to the Homecoming reception from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 6.
Her exhibit consists of landscapes, still lifes, and flowers in watercolor, pastels, acrylic, and oil paint. She also paints portraits of her family and many grandchildren.
“There's something about the inner being of creative people that says ‘I need to paint,'” Kibbons said. “You have all kinds of experiences in life, all kinds,” Kibbons said.
Kibbons did not take her first art class until she was 37 years old at Campbellsville College. She is an elementary education major and graduated on the same day as her oldest daughter, Kathy Denise Kibbons Brewer.
After graduating, Kibbons taught private art lessons to children and adults in her personal studio for 23 years.
Her studio is located behind her house in a log cabin that she and her now deceased husband, Dr. Jerry Kibbons, professor of theology, at Campbellsville University, built together. They had been married for 64 years.
