The purpose of this position is to oversee most aspects of the City’s computer network infrastructure including administration, implementation, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance. This includes network cabling, switches, routers, firewalls, VOIP, data storage, wireless access points, security cameras, access control system, endpoint protection and numerous system applications. Responsibilities include continuous education and research to provide the latest technologies for the City and helping to manage overall security aspects of the network.
DUTIES: Monitors and backs up the Storage Area Network; monitors network equipment, wireless networks configures, and assists with projects that are generally infrastructure in nature. Monitors the network to protect data from unauthorized users and ensures that the City’s infrastructure is not compromised; monitors network firewalls and ensures that the IT infrastructure is functional and secure. Provides support for a variety of technology, including installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of building and door access controls, and security cameras; installs data cabling; maintains and troubleshoots the hardware including servers, wireless, and data storage. Supports multiple software applications; maintains other Infrastructure systems such as but not limited to security tools and virtual private networks. Supports VOIP and telecommunications systems to ensure citywide functionality and stability. Troubleshoots network problems and takes corrective actions to help maintain the availability and performance of network systems. Attends staff or training meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills. Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, or related technical field, with two to four years of experience working extensively with a complex information technology infrastructure; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Network and security related technical certifications are desirable. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Driver’s License.
SALARY: Pay Grade G14; $78,443/yr. ($37.71/hr.); plus full benefit package
WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; weekend and overtime work possible with on-call responsibilities.
