The Professional MBA is designed for working professionals seeking to advance their careers. Students must have prior work experience and be currently employed full-time or part-time, completing an internship, or job shadowing.

Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of:
    • 2.5 overall, or
    • 2.6 for the last 60 hours.
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended, sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  • A completed application for admission.
  • English Proficiency (for international applicants):
    • TOEFL (Internet-based): Minimum 79-80
    • Duolingo: Minimum 100
    • IELTS: Minimum 6.0
    • Pearson (PTE): Minimum 53
    • U.S. College Coursework: Minimum 3.0 GPA with at least 6 credit hours
  • Credential Evaluation: Official evaluation of foreign academic work submitted before acceptance.

Program Format

  • The PMBA with IT Track is available in a hybrid format at the Louisville Education Center (LEC). Courses follow an eight-week term schedule with select hybrid courses spanning 16 weeks on Fridays or Saturdays.

      • Term 1: July–September
      • Term 2: September–October
      • Term 3: October–December

      • Term 5: March–April

    • Hybrid LEC Terms (16-week format):
      • Terms 1 & 2: July–October
      • Terms 2 & 3: August–December
      • Terms 3 & 4: October–March

  • International students must enroll full-time and register appropriately for CPT authorization.

Foundational Requirements

  • Applicants without undergraduate coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics must complete prerequisite courses or pass the PMBA Primer pretests before admission.
  • PMBA Primer Details:
    • Free, one-time pretests.
    • Minimum score of 70% required; otherwise, preparatory modules must be completed.
    • Expect to spend 20-30 hours on the modules.
    • Web-based format; no textbooks required.
    • Scores do not appear on transcripts.

Academic Standards

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout the program.
  • Grades below a C may result in academic dismissal.
  • A maximum of two C grades is allowed before dismissal.
  • A student may retake one course to improve a grade.
  • Students have six years to complete the program.

Work Experience Verification

  • PMBA hybrid courses require documented work experience as part of the course grade.
  • International students are required to be enrolled full-time and register for the appropriate experiential learning course. International students require Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization prior to engaging in experiential learning.
