CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University, which provides a range of activities for its students and the community at Homecoming, is offering more than just football for Homecoming fans this year.

This year's Homecoming play performances, Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 13-16, will be “Little Shop of Horrors” in the Russ Mobley Theater in the Alumni Building, 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

The Music Theatre International website describes the show as: “A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood.”
The plant, ‘Audrey II,' grows into an ill-tempered, rhythm and blues singing carnivore who offers the floral assistant fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

The website says “Little Shop of Horrors” is “One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time.” It continues: “This affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney's ‘The Little Mermaid,' ‘Beauty and the Beast' and ‘Aladdin.' Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, ‘Little Shop of Horrors' never fails to entertain.”

Audrey II is played by Rob Collins of Columbia, Ky.

Other cast members include: Paul Bray of Casey Creek, Ky. in various roles; Jess Harris of Louisville, Ky. and Lacy Mudd of Campbellsville, Ky. as Audrey; Zachary Myers of Campbellsville, Ky. as Orin; Dakota Rogers of Harrodsburg, Ky. as Seymour; Chanelle Smith of Campbellsville, Ky. as Ronnette; and Donquir Smith of Campbellsville, Ky. as Mr. Mushnik.

The production staff includes Dr. Frieda Gebert, associate professor of theater, as director; Matt Hodge, instructor in music and fine arts recruiter as music director; Starr Garrett, assistant professor and theater director as the artistic director; Julie Vetter, a sophomore from Morningview, Ky., stage manager; and Bella Jeffrey, a freshman from Campbellsville Ky., costumer.

Showings include Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct.14 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m.
