CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - As part of Campbellsville University's events memorializing the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the Rev. Lawrence “Larry” Recla STS, priest-in-charge of St. Francis Episcopal, Bushnell, Fla., will lead chapel service on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins, Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
Recla served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church of Queens, New York, from 1999 until 2001 when the World Trade Center was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. This event influenced Recla to volunteer for the Red Cross and the Ground Zero Temporary Morgue (“T-morgue”) until the site closed eight months later.
Having experience working with survivors and rescue personnel, Recla offered physical and spiritual aid throughout the recovery process of the terrorist attack. He provided assistance in blessing human remains in the morgue and accompanying bodies as they were transported off-site.
He is a 1972 graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Penn.
Recla has been a pastor of St. Francis Episcopal since 2012.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
At this time, masks are required for all in-person gatherings on the Campbellsville University campus. The university follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Commonwealth of Kentucky guidelines on best practices.
All chapel services are free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10 and digital channel 15.1) and streamed live on the internet at wlcutv.com and http://www.facebook.com/campbellsvilleuniversity.
