CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Representatives from Liberty in North Korea, (LINK), will be speaking at Campbellsville University Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
LINK is an organization that raises awareness about the human rights and humanitarian crisis in North Korea through the use of media and grassroots support. It also helps those who have fled their country because of this crisis.
Deborah Dean of Rising Sun, Md., a junior at CU, is a member of LINK and will be speaking, along with others, about LINK and what it is about.
“The session will include myself sharing about my summer working with North Korean refugees in South Korea,” Dean said.
Dean will share about her experiences with North Korean refugees in South Korea where she spent two months this past summer. She taught them English and shared with them about God's love.
“LINK is going around the United States sharing information about the North Korean crisis and what we can do to help. I am really excited about this event and really hope that it helps raise awareness about what is going on across the world.”
She said a movie, “Seoul Train,” will be shown and discussed. The movie focuses on the crisis in North Korea along with what the refugees go through to escape and how they are trying to restart their lives elsewhere.
She said it will also be discussed concerning what we as Americans can do to help the refugees.
Ed Pavy, director of campus ministries, will also give some insight into how we are told to love and care for the abandoned.
