Paid Internship Positions, Team Kentucky – Frankfort/Lexington, KY

How internships in state government work:

For summer internships, students must be enrolled in a cooperative education, internship or special academic program approved by an institution of public or private education for which academic credit or similar requirements may be satisfied.

  • Applicants must furnish proof of enrollment in such a program to the Personnel Cabinet.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
  • Co-op/Intern students are required to complete an online application in the recruitment system to the unique Co-op/Intern Program job posting.
  • Interested students must also submit the Academic Credit Agreement form and an unofficial copy of their transcripts to the Co-op/Intern Program Coordinator. The Academic Credit Agreement form must be signed by a counselor, advisor or cooperative education coordinator at their respective educational institution. The documents will be reviewed to ensure all requirements are met before students are placed in the program. REQ 23-02664 – Intern, Internal Audit Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Internal Audit (csod.com)  This individual will aid the Division Director of Internal Audit and other auditing staff by performing audits, assisting in meetings, and performing other duties as assigned.  The candidate will perform beginning professional level audit work by analyzing financial and statistical records, reports and statements, and policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be able to proficiently analyze and evaluate data and be familiar with Microsoft Office products.

REQ 23-02665 – Intern, Communications Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Communications (csod.com) This is a great opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or a related field. This individual will aid, and collaborate with, the Assistant Director of Communications by contributing new graphic design ideas and participating in brainstorming sessions to develop the design and layout for the Summary Annual Financial Report and other publications utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud programs.  The candidate will perform graphic design work leveraging the latest features of Adobe Creative Cloud to create InDesign templates for print and interactive e-publications. The ideal candidate will have proficient skills and extensive knowledge of InDesign publishing (print and digital) and developing various graphic design elements utilizing Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and other available applications.

REQ 23-02666 – Intern, DETS, Data Services. Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Enterprise and Tech Services (csod.com) The Data Services Branch works with business users to design and implement business and software solutions for the complex and interesting challenges faced by KPPA. We are a team of business analysts and other professionals who work as liaisons between our business users and technology staff to determine workable solutions, solve problems, and streamline processes with the goal of providing better services to staff, members and other stakeholders of KPPA.  The candidate will perform beginning level business analysis activities such as scribing design and requirements gathering sessions, testing system changes, updating process documentation, and utilizing technical tools to provide data to stakeholders. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and evaluative skills, interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

​​​​​​​REQ 23-02682 – Intern, DETS, Service Desk Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Enterprise and Tech Services (csod.com) The Service Desk Branch works with business users to maintain hardware and software solutions for the complex and interesting challenges faced by KPPA. The branch contains service desk and desktop teams, that are the primary interface between business users and IT. We determine workable solutions, solve problems, and streamline processes with the goal of providing better services to staff, members and other stakeholders of KPPA.  KPPA is seeking an intern that will perform beginning level desktop support activities on Windows 10 PCs and accessories, as well as an Avaya IP phone system. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and evaluative skills, interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, and of course, computer skills.  This is a great opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Cybersecurity.

REQ 23-02683 – Intern, Accounting. Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Accounting (csod.com) This individual will work directly with the CFO, the Division Director, and the Assistant Directors in data analysis, internal control enhancement, and accounting process improvement. In addition, the candidate will participate in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and the related external audit.  The candidate must be able to use problem solving, analytical, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have proficient skills in Microsoft products including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.  This is a great opportunity for students pursuing a degree in accounting or a related field.

REQ 23-02687 – Intern, Legal, Non-Advocacy. Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Legal Non-Advocacy (csod.com) This individual will aid and collaborate with the team by contributing to various projects and cases handled in the division.  The candidate will primarily assist with drafting Orders and memos and conducting legal research related to Administrative Hearings, Board or Committee meetings, Open Records, regulations, and other legal topics and tasks as necessary. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in law school and have proficient skills in legal writing and research.

REQ 23-02689 – Intern, Legal, Advocacy Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Legal Advocacy (csod.com). This individual will assist in preparing administrative appeals, conduct legal research, draft legal arguments, and work with staff attorneys on their pending cases.  The candidate will perform legal research to assist staff attorneys with issues in their active cases. The ideal candidate will have proficient skills and extensive knowledge of Westlaw, Lexis, as well as organizing documentary evidence through Microsoft Office products.

REQ 23-02691 – Intern, DETS, Application Services Branch I Co-Op/Intern -Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) -Division of Enterprise and Tech Services (csod.com) The Application Services branch works with business analysts to design and implement custom business and software solutions for the complex and interesting challenges faced by KPPA. We are a team of information technology professionals who maintain both internal and external web applications, batch processes, and a variety of unique custom programs to satisfy both technical and business needs.  The Application Services branch is seeking an intern that will perform beginning level software development activities such as writing, testing, and debugging software and execute simple SQL data requests as needed. They will also work with Business Analysts to evaluate basic user requirements. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and evaluative skills, interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.  This is a great opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Software Development, Information Technology, or Computer Information Systems
