PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT – ADMINISTRATION, No. 24-841 (Advertised)

This position performs general clerical, accounting, and/or receptionist duties for the assigned department.

DUTIES: Prepares and creates correspondence, work orders, minutes of meetings, reports, agendas, spreadsheets, contracts, statistical analyses, or other documents; compiles information and types from written notes, articles, forms, letters, or reports; or designs forms, flyers, and lists. Answers telephone and provides information, takes and relays messages accurately, and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel or other agencies. Greets visitors to the department; provides necessary information and/or applications, or directs visitors to appropriate personnel or department; assists with processing of applications; receives and processes fees; takes reservations or enrolls participants. Processes and completes payroll, including reviewing time sheets, properly calculating any overtime, entering data into computer, and assisting with fringe benefit questions; reviews edits for time entry and labor distribution; enters and edits payroll transfers to proper accounts within payroll funds. Performs general accounting tasks such as auditing and modifying vouchers for payment, issuing purchase orders, processing requisitions, and checking accounts to make sure sufficient funds are available to issue purchase orders and pay invoices; audits bills; provides accounting information of specialization to other employees; Performs general office duties such as creating and maintaining files and records, making travel arrangements, processing mail, maintaining supply inventory, reviewing security cameras, proofreading, filing, faxing, and/or photocopying.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma (or GED) and one year of college or vocational school education in Business Administration or related required (Associate degree in Business Administration or related preferred), with one year of general business, accounting, and computer operation experience (depending on area of specialization); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Familiarity with software utilized by City office personnel such as Word and Excel; ability to learn job-related utilization of the financial and recreation/work order software.

SALARY: Pay Grade 111; $36,794/yr. ($16.08/hr.); plus full benefit package

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
