Description for Family Ministry Director: The Family Ministry Director will be primarily responsible for overseeing and implementing curriculum for Sunday school classes and Wednesday evening activities for pre-K through 12th grade. The Director will coordinate with and provide logistical support Sunday school teachers and volunteers working with the children and youth. In addition, the director will plan VBS, mission trips, camps and retreats, as well as quarterly youth activities and events, and provide a safe (physically and emotionally) and engaging environment. All children and youth ministries and events will be Christ focused and designed to encourage the spiritual growth of the children and youth at BGCPC.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Christian “ministries” required. A willingness to pursue a seminary education and ordination in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church preferred.Service Relationship: The Family Ministry Director works with the Senior Pastor and is part of the Christian Education Committee.
Responsibilities:• Minister to church families, and recruit and train volunteers.• Give the children’s message on Sunday mornings, teach Youth Sunday school class, and teach Wednesday evening Youth Group.• Coordinate the weekly youth education programs.• Coordinate curriculum (pre-K through 12) for the church for a balanced comprehensive Christian education to children and youth.• Develop a budget proposal for session approval on a yearly basis.• Plan activities and events designed to minister to the whole family.• Provide opportunities for youth to serve in church and local ministries.• Mentor members of the youth who sense a call to ministry vocation.• Create and implement an overall youth evangelism strategy for the church.• Network with other churches in the community and support school campus ministries.• Be available to preach during Sunday morning worship when the Senior Pastor is unavailable.• Additional duties as assigned by the Pastor, Session, and Christian Education Committee.Compensation and Benefits:Commensurate with education and experience, approximately $40,000-45,000.
