Construction Coordinator I, The City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green, KY

Description

The purpose of this position is to inspect public infrastructure (including roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and facilities) for development within the City, manage minor capital improvement projects and assist with larger projects, and provide assistance to internal clients. Duties and responsibilities include inspecting project construction, work within right-of-way, street-cut locations, and citizen driven complaints/concerns with respect to City infrastructure. Additionally, duties may include preparing cost estimates, contract administration, preparing and maintaining project timelines and budgets, review and approval of billings for minor construction or maintenance project.

DUTIES: Inspects construction at project sites; inspects subdivision construction and permit sites for compliance with City codes; prepares cost estimates and bid documents for minor City projects; assists with bid review; inspects projects daily during construction; compares quantities in place with billed and bid quantities; monitor, review, and approve payments; monitor timelines; provide guidance to contractors; reference project and industry specifications; manages minor capital improvement project contracts; assist with street set permits and perform inspections; investigate citizen complaints; assist City Surveyor as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Industrial Science, or related field, with minimum two years in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. This position requires a basic understanding of construction techniques related to site development, highways, and drainage; and knowledge of project cost estimating. Desired experience/skills include experience in project management, knowledge of current construction practices, and possession of analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficient reading, writing and mathematical skills. In-depth working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the latest version Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with AutoCAD desired but not required. Employee must possess a valid driver’s license.

SALARY: Pay Grade 111; $52,632/yr. ($25.30/hr) plus a full benefit package.

WORK HOURS: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Monday – Friday, with occasional overtime expected
