Job Title: Children’s Minister
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Position Status: Full OR Part Time
Purpose: The Minister of Children’s Ministry work is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating and implementing of a program for children from birth through fifth grade.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibility for the oversight and leadership of the Children’s ministries that include: Wednesday Night Ministries, Children’s Church, Special Events, Vacation Bible School.
Recruit, train and coordinate workers for Children’s Ministry classes and events, worship services and Gateway programs.
Works cooperatively with all staff and volunteers.
Provide a warm, friendly and learning environment for children and families.
Communicates the needs of the children’s program to other staff and church leaders as appropriate.
Organizes, sets-up and stocks classrooms with necessary supplies. Coordinates sanitation and safety of classrooms.
Visits classes for the purpose of evaluation and teacher support in order to address any issues or emergencies that arise. Teaches classes as needed.
Create and effectively manage the ministry’s budget.
Communicate consistently with parents as well as provide the tools
they need for spiritual leadership in the home
Conduct special training projects for children’s workers in proper relationship to the church program.
Job Skills and Requirements
– Degree in Children’s Ministry or equivalent preferred
– Should always exhibit professionalism, demonstrated by: a well-
groomed appearance, conscientious work ethic and the ability to
work with and lead teams
– Good time management and willing and able to work at a fast pace
within a variety of settings and circumstances, with composure and
flexibility.
– Strong delegation skills and the ability to connect with parents
-Should be ever conscious of the need for confidentiality.
– Should exercise discernment and wise judgment with conflict
management skills
– Should be a person who gives extreme attention to details with an
eye for excellence.
– Should be a self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing
projects.
-The ability to inspire, motivate and mentor others and the ability to
recruit volunteers
– Knowledge of growth and development of children from nursery to
junior high/middle school. |
