Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, The City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green, KY

DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to assist with the planning, implementing, and instructing of recreational activities for the Adaptive Recreation program participants, including children and adults with physical or intellectual disabilities. Duties and responsibilities include: assisting with developing and implementing recreational programs, special events, and fund raisers; serving as assistant director of summer day camp and assisting with training and supervising summer employees and counselors, volunteers, and athletes. Oversees Kummer/Little Recreation Center facility, and assists with Bowling Green Special Olympics.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma (or GED) required with a minimum of two years of college course work in Therapeutic Recreation (or related), with one year of experience instructing various types of recreational classes or activities for special populations within the City, such as the elderly or physically challenged (or related) required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Must be certified in CPR, First Aid, and possess a valid driver’s license.

SALARY: Pay Grade 114; $41,239/yr. ($19.82/hr.); plus full benefit package

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; typically Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with occasional overtime
