WHAS, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate in Louisville, KY is looking for a talented, dynamic, engaging anchor & reporter to join our award-winning team.
It’s the city that hosts the Kentucky Derby, the Bourbon trail, and often March Madness. It’s also a big news city, with a strong culture of local journalism.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about journalism, whether it’s on camera as one of our lead morning anchors, or chasing a breaking story. This person is a newsroom leader who appreciates the daily collaborative team effort and helps guide our daily coverage with strong, urgent writing and news judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Anchor newscasts and report on important local stories affecting the community.
- Generate unique, compelling, and innovative story/show ideas and content.
- Skillfully and calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
- Ability to communicate stories in conversational manner
- Excellent use of social media for news gathering/disseminating and community engagement.
- Produce short- and long-form community content/specials for multiple platforms.
- Represent WHAS11 at community events
- Perform other tasks as required by management

Requirements:
- Experience as an anchor/reporter.
- Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
- Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills.
- Must be able to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air/live presentation skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
- Strong social media presence.
- Prior experience as a people leader with strong leadership qualities and ability to motivate and engage team members on multiple projects.
- Passion for being involved in the community and ability to build new connections.
- Innovative mindset that generates creative solutions on projects.
