Job Summary: The Behavior Technician will apply empirically based behavioral principles to all clients that the Behavior Technician works with. The Behavior Technician functions as an integral part of the treatment team and ensures that all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner in order to benefit the clients that the Behavior Technician works with.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s level graduate in field of Social Service preferred, or enrolled in Bachelor level courses at approved University or comparable work experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis or Social Services
- Registered Behavior Technician, or ability to be board certified within three months of hire preferred.
- Applied Behavior Analysis, Medicaid, Waiver and Private Insurance experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with people at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership experience with great interpersonal and people skills
- Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills and abilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop programs that fit strategically with ACSS goals
Responsibilities/essential functions:
The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Applies empirically based behavioral principles consistently in all interactions with clients and staff
- Implements Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) under the direction of the behavior analysts/consultants
- Teaches the clients to acquire language, academic, self-help, and social skills as stated in the ITPs
- Assists clients, as needed, to acquire academic and/or appropriate life skills. This may include toilet training, eating, and other self-help skills.
- Is a team-player and assists with ideas, suggestions and work duties
- Actively participates in staff training programs designed to increase overall skills
- With assistance of the Lead Behavior Technician, develops program plans and other instructional activities and materials
- Writes progress reports, and other requested written assignments related to the clients.
- Communicates in a professional and respectful manner with parents, behavior analysts/consultants, therapist trainers, therapists and clients.
- Becomes fluent in the understanding and administering of the VB-MAPP, ABLLS, EFL, PEAK and other assessments as needed.
- Observes records, and reports the condition and behavior of the clients, including maintaining daily records during the day
- Works with clients, consultants, staff, families, and community to implement client’s treatment plans
- Consistently implements behavior plans to reduce client’s socially inappropriate behavior and promote appropriate social behaviors
- Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations which may include client physical aggression and property destruction
- Completes daily paperwork and data collection notes in a detailed, accurate, consistent and timely manners
- Follows Adapt for Life and Adaptive Community Support Services policies and procedures, including adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
- Openly flexible and responsible in working with multiple clients at one time, when necessary
- Submit all notes, progress reports, billing and other necessary documentation on time
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
