“The experience has been great so far. I have a great deal to learn that is specific to higher education technology, but I am excited about that challenge,” Smith said.

Smith has over 15 years of experience working in information technology. From 1999-2009, he worked at Fidelity National Information Services working his way up to Programming Manager. In 2009, he accepted a position with Stock Yard Bank & Trust in Louisville, Ky., moving up to vice president and director of information technology before joining CU.

“The team has been great to work with during the transition,” Smith said.

Smith earned his undergraduate in mathematics from the University of Arkansas in 1998. In 2006, he received his Master’s of Business Administration from Wingate University.

He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children: Tyler, Wyatt and Tessa.
