CAMPELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University School of Music will be featuring the CU Jazz Orchestra, along with the Taylor County High School Jazz Band, in its spring program “Changing Colors” on Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. at The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville. The TCHS Jazz Band will perform at 7:45 p.m.
The program is free and open to the public.
The Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jennifer Tinnell, director of bands and instructor in music, will be featuring a variety of tunes, sure to be entertaining to all, she said.
“Our set list has music that was made famous by Nat King Cole, Earth Wind and Fire, Charles Mingus, Irving Berlin, The Rippingtons and other legendary jazz musicians,” she said.
Among some of the selections will be “Blue Skies,” “April in Paris,” “In the Stone” and “Engine No. 9,” along with several others.
New to the program this year, Tinnell said, is the opening act by the Taylor County High School Jazz Band. Stephen Bishop, director of the ensemble, said “We’re excited and ready to go! We’re very excited to be a part of the program.”
The program will last about an hour.
