JPay, a leading provider of inmate and corrections services for over 13 years, seeks a Public Relations Manager. This newly created position will play an important role on the JPay Marketing Team managing internal and external communications. The individual will be tasked with developing and implementing public relations programs to enhance the company’s reputation with all audiences including: media, government officials, customers and industry players. This position will also conduct internal communications and manage events.
Primary duties include:

Public Relations
• Develop PR strategies, campaigns, and initiatives to increase national and local exposure and improve public perception of the company
• Manage the company’s reputation with the public and with clients, including managing the PR aspect of a potential crises situation
• Develop strong relationships with the media, liaising with them frequently, and answering inquiries
• Write clear and concise messaging (company position, products, issues, etc.), develop press releases and media kits
• Manage and optimize media / press information on company’s digital touchpoints, including mobile apps, social media, and websites
• Maintain effective working relationships with local and municipal government officials and media representatives
• Foster positive community relations through involvement in community activities
• Organize events including press conferences, press tours, and public speaking opportunities for the Executive
team and tradeshows / conferences
• Create and maintain a historical archive of all published company references
• Monitor competitor PR activities and media exposure (mentions in articles, attack ads, etc.)
• Manage company sponsorships and goodwill partnerships
• Source PR agency and manage relationship
Internal Company Communications
• Prepare and publish internal company newsletters and communications
• Coordinate and execute company-wide meetings, events, and photo shoots
• Develop and launch internal communications portal / intranet

In a nutshell, the ideal candidate needs to have an extensive digital Rolodex of media contacts, and be able to show examples of having created PR strategies, as well as innovative, high profile PR initiatives he/she procured, executed, and reported the results.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism from a traditional (non-online) university
• 5+ years related experience, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and results
• Candidate must be able to develop strategy as well as roll up their sleeves and do the work
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to establish task lists & timelines, and execute against them on time and on budget
• Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through abilities
