CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University is set to host a guest recital for the piano duet, Duo Miroirs, Thursday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
Duo Miroirs is made up of pianists Antonello D’Onofiro and Claudio Soviero, who joined together to form the duet out of their passion of music, specifically their passion for the French composer Maurice Ravel.
Both D’Onofiro and Soviero began their careers as soloists after graduating with honors from the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan. The idea to join together and create Duo Miroirs came from a master course in “Piano Duo Chamber Music.” The two have since been coached by Luigi Zanardi and Emanuela Piemonti.
Their career as a duet took off with piano masterclasses with pianistis such as Rolf Plagge, A. Lonquich, Bruno Canino and Massimiliano Baggio. Duo Miroirs has been selected multiple times by the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan for their festival and has won the prestigious “Scholarship for Piano Duo A. Rancati” in 2013.
Duo Miroirs have performed in important theaters in Italy, Brazil, Germany, Spain, United States and Canada. Critics have called the duo eclectic, sensitive, original and harmonious for their interpretation of music.
Duo Miroirs will perform works by Mozart, Schubert, Casella, Ravel, Ligeti and Lupis during their program on Sept. 10 in The Gheens Recital Hall, which is free and open to the public.
