Location: Frenchburg, Kentucky. Menifee County is located in Eastern Kentucky.

 

The Extension Agent for Agriculture/4-H Youth Development will provide leadership and management to the overall agricultural and 4-H youth development program for their county. Agent responsibilities include: 1) develop agricultural proficiency of local citizens through educational programs; 2) provide agricultural expertise to answer questions and solve problems related to agriculture and natural resources; 3) develop field trails, test demonstrations and result demonstrations in areas related to agricultural production and natural resources; 4) work jointly with the other agent to implement a well-rounded 4-H program that develops youth through school and community-based programs; 5) recruit and train volunteers leaders to work with youth; 6) utilize and/or develop councils, advisory groups, and committees in programming; 7) facilitate community programming around issues involving leadership development, community involvement, local government, community services and other forms of community economic development. This position will serve all clientele ensuring that all youth and adults have an equal opportunity to participate in extension programs regardless of race, gender, age, color, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.

The agent will develop and implement a plan of work based on locally identified needs which will lead to improved quality of living for families, youth & individuals. Will plan and implement educational programs which focus on: 1) making healthy choices; 2) nurturing families; 3) embracing life as you age; 4) securing financial stability; 5) promoting healthy homes and communities; 6) accessing nutritious food; and 7) empowering community leaders. Will develop expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas including: food and nutrition; family resource management; human development and family relations; health, safety and wellness; leadership development; clothing and textiles; housing and the environment; home based and micro business. Will develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers and 4-H Leaders. Will work jointly with the other agent to implement a well-rounded 4-H program that develops youth through school and community-based programs; Will utilize and/or develop councils, advisory groups, and committees in programming; Will facilitate community programming around issues involving leadership development, community involvement, local government, community services and other forms of community economic development.
