Job Description: This position, which is shared with the Student Development and Enrollment Services and Communications and Marketing divisions, is responsible for achieving key initiatives for each division and leading communications and marketing programs and personnel for SDES.


Ensure the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of SDES/C&M projects and initiatives that contribute to the divisions and university achieving strategic goals


Build an SDES communications and marketing team that serves the division’s needs and works in concert with colleagues in Communications and Marketing


Align communications and marketing strategies to achieve key goals for SDES, C&M and UCF


Address emerging policy, crisis, and reputation issues that can affect SDES, C&M and UCF


Work with SDES and C&M leadership to address progress toward key initiatives including, but not limited to:

 -- Achieving performance funding goals

 -- Advancing involvement with University Innovation Alliance and Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities

 -- Promoting a safe and caring culture through UCF Cares

 -- Improving performance on measures included in US News & World Report rankings

 -- Attracting and retaining high-quality and diverse first-time-in-college students and transfer students


Develop creative, strategic, informative and entertaining communications and marketing content and campaigns across multiple media that result in target audiences participating in and supporting key university initiatives, including communications to students to drive further engagement with SDES or related university programs.


Work with C&M colleagues to conduct an audit of SDES communications and marketing resources, processes and personnel. With agreement from SDES and C&M leadership, use the audit to improve results, efficiency and cost savings for the SDES and C&M divisions.


Collaborate with SDES colleagues on improving programs that affect the UCF and SDES brand – but are not communications and marketing issues, per se — including student orientations, parent communication, campus tours, housing and residence life and more.


Develop strategic communications and marketing plans targeting SDES employees to create a well-informed community that supports SDES and UCF strategic goals.


Monitor and maintain constant awareness of major issues that impact (or that have the potential to impact) the divisions and university, and recommend and help implement communications strategies and tactics to address the issues.


Create an environment in the divisions that recognizes excellence and promotes a positive atmosphere of achievement and collaboration.


Other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience. 




5 years of supervisory experience leading and coordinating communication and marketing teams


Previous project management experience with high-output communication and marketing teams highly desirable


Experience working in higher education environment with a focus on student affairs and outcomes
